Before the beggining of the 2000s hardly were there people that knew much about Bansko. However, in the last ten years, this beautiful winter ski resort in Bulgaria has become a preferable destination, gathering almost 200 000 tourists every winter for enforgetable and remarkable experience in winter sports.

The resort is remarkable with its two completely renewed tracks that are accessible on a reasonable price, a tourist can hire equipment for snowboarding, buy tickets for the tracks, use the lifts to the peak of the hill and all these can be paid at the hotel reception in prices that are much lower than the standard European ones.

Once ready to snowboard, a tourist can choose between the two amazing tracks long enough to satisfy the expectations even of the keenest snowboarders. However, for those who are looking for some extra adrenaline, the off track routes are countless. Bansko is a preferable place for off track racing since the terrain is perfect for that -the steep slopes are not dangerous since they are always covered with fresh snow since the location is in the North of the Rilla Mountains where the snowfall is constant but the snow amount always the same. If insecure, the snowboarders can easily connect with the First Aid and Rescue teams in the resort and warn them there is off track racing in the area. Thus the rescuers would be on hold and aware so any obstacles and risks would be avoided.

If still hesitating, snowboarders can always check on Bansko’s website -this place promises not only an amazing time spent snowboarding but a variety of services, lower prices and most importantly the chance to meet so many cultures and so different people. Every snowboarder would have the chance to spend some time at a high class resort, using high class facilities and enjoying high class services.

You can also find instructors who can help you train how to ride. A few of the top parks that are well known for snowboarding are Copper Mountain Resort, Whistler Blackcomb, Mammoth Mountain, Buttermilk, Cornett Park, and Keystone Resort.

The Snowboard school at Whistler Blackcomb offers you with different kinds of snow conditions. You will find some of the best instructors at this school. You can take a lesson from the instructors to learn faster about snowboarding. Kids and adults learners can get valuable lessons from the instructor on how to snowboard on the terrain and the slopes. Students are divided into groups and they are given one-on-one training with proper attention and care.

One of the best resorts for snowboarding is Cornett Park located in the middle of the lakes of South Island and Southern Alps, on the banks of Lake Wakatipu. This resort offers gentle slopes which are loved by snowboarders of all ages. Due to an excellent snow making system, it remains covered with snow all times round the year.

In Austria, St Anton offers you with the best terrain which is perfect for snowboarding. You need to be an expert in snowboarding if you want to visit this resort. Beginners are also welcomed here, but they get a chance to ride near a place called Kapall as there numerous slopes and terrains there. Intermediate riders can visit Gampen and Kapall. Advanced riders are advised to snowboard Rendl which is a mountain located on the opposite side of St. Anton.

Another well known resort in Japan is Niseko United. This resort is riders’ paradise as the terrain is soft and covered with trees and gullies.

Snowboarding is a very fun, exciting sport. It is very exhausting and takes plenty of all over body strength. Be prepared to be sore after your first day of riding down the slopes. Snowboarding is a pretty expensive investment. Until you are certain that snowboarding is the right sport for you, you can rent your equipment at the slopes. They have everything you need to enjoy a day of snowboarding without a great financial commitment. If you find that you do thoroughly enjoy it and want to get your own equipment you can still save yourself some money by buying the smart way.

When shopping for snowboards remember to look in newspaper classifieds or on some websites that feature local people selling their things. A lot of times you can find used snowboard equipment in great condition for very affordable prices. There are also some stores that buy and sell used sports equipment including snowboarding gear. You can get your boots, board, and all the equipment you need for a fraction of the cost of what they would have cost brand new.

If you do decide to purchase them brand new be sure to search online. There are many places online that run great specials. Sometimes you can use discount codes to lower the price of your items and some sites offer free shipping if you purchase a certain amount of items. If you take your time and really search for the best deal you can find great prices for the things you need. Rushing into a purchase will usually cost you double what it would have cost if you would have waited. You want to make sure that you are getting the most for your money and that the equipment you get is of great quality. Use the money you save on equipment to go on a trip to a great slope and have a blast, just be aware to val thorens accommodation can rather damage your bank account as well…

How many of you know the name Sherman Poppen? I’m guessing very few. You might kick yourself as I did when I tell you that he was the man who started it all; had Sherman, a devout snowboarder, and his wild vision of surfing the Rockies not played out as it had, we might have all found ourselves doing something very different with our time. Who’s to say that Extreme Ironing wouldn’t have taken off? Instead of turning on TV and seeing some dude blasting into the air out of a snow-pipe, we may well have been racing out with our ironing boards to the nearest hill. (Complete with super fashionable carbon fiber iron..)

By all accounts Poppen was an extravert. He didn’t give a monkeys uncle that everyone thought his idea was a bit on the daft side, he made his prototype beauty, and he was proud; one meter twenty long and wrangled roughly out of two children’s’ skis joined together. As the legend goes, Wendy, his daughter, was the only person who thought it was any good when her dad gave it to her as a birthday present.

You might think that was it, the snowboard established, but nope. The idea vanished out of sight—although Poppen sold a few and his friends thought it was OK, it was already dead in the water. It wasn’t until the 70s that a surfer called Dimitrije Milovich, an east coaster, started it all up again, unable to think of anything else.

But no, that soon died too. By 1980 his company—renowned as the first snowboarding company in history—was flat broke, too.

At the same time a number of other people were having a go: the likes of Jake Burton, Tom Sims, Bob Webber, and Chuck Barfoot—who brought fiberglass into the frame—helped put snowboarding back on track.

So, if you’ve got an outrageous idea and think it has legs, don’t listen to anyone! Who knows? Maybe it’ll go somewhere…

Before I go, there is a great site that you all need to check out on enigin PLC, I really like these guys and I hope you will all support them as well!

I was up riding in Sunshine Village the other weekend. Actually that is a little bit of a lie, I was on Goat’s Eye, but same mountain so you get my point. Anyways for the first time ever I actually was riding with my iPod in and rocking out to this amazing band called The Smalls, who sadly have disbanded. The bass player went on create another awesome band called The Corb Lund Band, which you should all also check out.

Anyways, this has nothing to do with this site, all I am trying to say is that you should all try listening some tunes next time you are on the hills. It totally improved my tricks.

Hope you are all digging lots of powder and watch this space for more snowboarding news from me and my mates!

Also Go Team Canada!
